Bumper System

LRV and Tram bumpers must be multifunctional.  They must cover the retractable coupler when it is not in use, they must provide collision protection for the vehicle, and they must blend harmoniously into the front fascia of the vehicle. 

Hubner USA’s bumpers satisfy all of the above requirements, but we go the extra mile by offering additional protection to other traffic participants, especially pedestrians and bicyclists.  Our bumpers provide superior protection because of better material and design.  How are they different?

• Our bumper surface is made from either polyurethane foam (PU foam) or from reinforced injection molded polyurethane (RIM) making it unique to the industry.  Most other bumper products are made from either RFP or from aluminum material. As a consequence, they are not as durable and provide less protection to exposed traffic.  In contrast, our bumper material is extremely flexible and allows for elastic deformation.  As a result, it offers better protection for pedestrians and bicycles.
• Our bumpers require less maintenance because they are nearly unbreakable.  In case of collision, often it is only necessary to replace a specific part of the bumper cover instead of the whole bumper.  Furthermore, our bumper covers are mounted using integrated thread bolts that are easily exchangeable
• Our bumpers have energy absorbing dampers. Combined with superior material, the energy absorbing dampers guarantee the best protection available in the market. 
• Our unique design is based on 20 years of experience in developing high-tech bumpers for the European transportation industry. The polyurethane bumper is an increasingly popular solution in Europe.  Our parent company, Huebner GmbH, has supplied many applications.
• We integrate “form and function” by custom designing the color and contour of each bumper to blend harmoniously into the vehicle.
• We offer an optional hydraulic system to operate the bumper automatically. The system reduces vibrations and permits precise movements. With this option, a single person can retract the bumper easily.
